Eterna Vivid 250D Film Recipe for Street & Portraits

I am pleased to inform you that I have crafted an Obscura film recipe that surely will not disappoint. Named Fusion Obscura, this film recipe was adjusted based on an actual motion picture film stock sample, which allowed me to carefully refine it. The result? A recipe that yields a visually stunning effect – perfect for both portrait and street photography, this is where the name Fusion Obscura came from.

As a creator of SOOC recipes for Fujifilm, I must say that Ethereal Street is still my number one pick for the year. However, rest assured that my newly formulated Obscura film recipe is an entirely different experience, offering its own unique benefits and distinct characteristics. So, if you want to elevate your photography game to a whole new level, give my latest recipe a try and brace yourself for the stunning visuals that will follow.

All You Need To Know About Fusion Obscura

Known as one of the Obscura film recipes, the Fusion Obscura is suitable for use in portrait photoshoots or street photography. The custom settings are carefully adjusted and fine-tuned to work for both worlds. By using the Eterna/Cinema film simulation as the foundation, this film recipe can be effectively utilized by intentionally overexposing the shots to bring forth the desired muted tone.

Personally, I have developed a deep fondness for the Eterna film simulation and have discovered that this recipe allows me to create more captivating images without excessive contrast. Keeping simplicity in mind, it has become my preferred choice for achieving the desired aesthetic. Based on the motion picture film image that I have compared with, I’ve adjusted the white balance shift to slightly warm tone plus a little magenta look that mimic some of the Eterna Vivid 250D in different lighting condition.

After careful consideration, I ultimately made the decision to retain the Grain Effects setting as Weak in order to maintain the highest possible image quality. Though this may seem like a minor adjustment, I took into account the potential impact that the Grain Effects could have on the overall aesthetic of the image. By choosing to keep it Weak, I am able to ensure that the image will be as crisp, clear, and true to life as possible, while slightly mimic the film-look effect.

The Clarity setting is optional but setting them to -2 can help you reduce any unwanted sharpness or harshness in your photo, giving it a more gentle and natural appearance.

The muted tone of this film recipe is incredibly reminiscent to the process of pulling film. During the process of pulling film, the harsh shadows are removed, and the images come out with less contrast. This film recipe would be particularly ideal for portrait photography, as it ensures your subjects are not obstructed by unwanted shadows, this is always depending on your lighting conditions. Interestingly, the recipe can also bring out the best in your photos by providing a unique and subtle tone.
