The Best Hits of Palmy Vinyl Review: A Rare Gem For Collectors

I had been searching everywhere for The Best Hits Of Palmy vinyl from online marketplaces to social media. With limited vinyl running number 456 copies available, it was a tough find. After months of searching, my dream came true in 2024 when I found a seller from Thailand on social media. I immediately bought the 2LP pink vinyl, which features my favorite songs by Palmy.

Palmy is a Thai singer-songwriter known for her unique blend of pop music with elements of folk, rock, and alternative styles. Her music features thoughtful lyrics and a mix of Thai and Western influences, creating a distinctive and eclectic sound that sets her apart in the Thai music industry. Palmy is one of my favorite Thai singers who have beautiful vocals.

Thanks to @kennemusic from Phetchabun, Thailand, I finally secured the vinyl record I had been longing for. I’ve been a fan of Palmy since my first trip to Phuket and have been listening to her songs ever since I discovered Thai music.

The Best Hits Of Palmy Vinyl 180 gram

The Best Hits Of Palmy 2LP vinyl is made in the U.S.A and released by GMM Grammy / Genie Records in 2023, one of Thailand’s largest record label companies, this vinyl record features 24 of Palmy’s best hits across 2LPs, spanning from her earliest to her latest songs, Ribbon Love Color Black (ริบบิ้นเลิฟคัลเลอร์แบล็ค) featuring Singto Namchok. The Best Hits Of Palmy vinyl is a 180 gram audiophile vinyl with lacquer cut Bernie Grundman at Bernie Grundman Mastering Studio U.S.A.

Since I began my journey with vinyl records and turntables, I’ve always been on the lookout for Palmy’s vinyl records, and this is one that I’m willing to invest in. This is the second most expensive vinyl record in my collection, right after Taeyeon’s INVU vinyl.

Delivery Experience With EMS Thailand

Using EMS Thailand to Malaysia can result in longer waiting times, especially for items valued over RM500 due to duty tax charges in Malaysia. My package was held by customs for at least 4-5 working days, and I had to contact Pos Malaysia multiple times as there was no response from customs for days. Thankfully, the customer service team followed up on the issue.

I might sound impatient, but I have had bad experiences in the past, such as a K-pop poster being damaged. Given that this was an expensive and rare vinyl record, I was particularly concerned about its handling and storage, as it shouldn’t be stacked with other large and heavy items.

Using EMS, it took approximately 14 days for the package to be delivered, which was quite frustrating. I recommend paying extra to the seller to use a better courier company, such as DHL or FedEx, for more reliable service.

Using an Ultrasonic Cleaner for New Vinyl Records

When I first got this new record, the very first thing I did was to get it cleaned. You might think, “Why clean a brand new record?” But trust me, even new records can have some dust, residues or tiny particles that affect the sound. So, I took the record to a Hi-Fi shop close by that uses a special cleaning method called ultrasonic record cleaning. This method uses sound waves to gently clean the record, and it only took a few minutes.

Once I got home, I couldn’t wait to play the record. When I put it on, the difference was amazing! The music and vocals sounded much clearer and more detailed than before. It was like the sound opened up and became richer. Palmy’s voice has a warm, soothing quality that’s really comforting to hear, that it gives me goosebumps every time I listen to it. Compared to before, when the music sounded a bit muddy, this was a huge improvement. It really blew me away, and I’m not exaggerating!

The Best Hits Of Palmy Pink Vinyl

I’m thrilled to share that my dream has come true – I’m ecstatic to add the The Best Hits Of Palmy vinyl as my first Thai pop rock collection. This addition brings a unique charm to my vinyl record music library, and I get immerse myself in the timeless tunes of Palmy on my Rega Planar 1 record player. The sound quality is excellent when listened with the Douk Audio T4 Pro tube preamp. 

This is a vinyl compilation with all the best classic hits from Palmy discography. Listening to Palmy on a turntable is far more satisfying than using music streaming or CDs. I am currently setting up a turntable space and would love to share how it looks once the project is complete.
